DDRs COMMANDO UNITS; MILITARY SERVICE; ATOMIC WEAPONS

DDR's SPECIAL COMMANDOS:

Short, but detailed, discussion about the anti-terrorist and special assignment commandos which were developed in the DDR under the supervision of the Volkspolizei, many of whose members became training officers and special-ops effectives in the new Bundeswehr after unification.   29 minutes long.

SERVING IN THE NVA:

The armed forces of the German Democratic Republic were considered to be one of the Soviet Union's most reliable allies and its best armed.  But was it really?  This film goes into the history and development of the NVA and its use as a protective shield against western, imperialistic aggression. 48 minutes long.

THE DDR's ATOMIC WEAPONS:

It wasn't just the USSR which based atomic weapons for offensive/defensive use in a future war against NATO; the DDR itself had its own arsenal and was more than prepared to use it.  This film talks about that weaponry and what we might have had to face in the event the Cold War turned hot.  Contemporary films bring us to former militarily classified sites, too.  55 minutes long.

132 minutes long.  Quality varies depending on film sources, but overall very good.
