Enroute from Bombay to Santosh Nagar by train, Engineer Ratan meets a dance troupe run by Professor Biharilal. Also included in this group is the dancer/singer, Roopa, who is attracted to him. When a group of policemen board the same compartment, a guilt-ridden Biharilal conceals a stolen necklace in the pocket of Ratan. When they reach their destination, the former instructs Roopa to get the necklace back from Ratan - and she sets about doing so - but both fall in love with each other. Biharilal is displeased with these turn of events and warns Roopa.

On a rainy night, Suresh Sinha, a famous director, meets a woman, Shanti, and gives her his coat. She comes to the film studio to return the coat, unintentionally disrupting a shooting, by walking in front of the camera. While reviewing the rushes, Sinha recognises her potential as a star and casts her as Paro in Devdas. Shanti goes on to become a rage and an acclaimed star. Shanti and Suresh, two lonely people, come together. Their liaison is hotly debated in gossip columns and results in Pammi's friends tormenting her. Pammi pleads with Shanti to leave Sinha's life and allow her parents' marriage another chance. Moved by Pammi's plea, Shanti throws away her career and becomes a school teacher in a small village.

The basic idea is so absurd, that it's almost sublime: An acclaimed revue star disguises herself as a girl, so that her mother can seek out a new, young suitor --- which, of course, requires all the libidinal gimmicks to be rolled out. Good thing there's a second man, otherwise the pedophiles would interfere with all the entertainment! Why Franziska Gaal has to even bother dressing up as a girl is, upon closer inspection, fully irrelevent: Neufeld's plots are in principle simply scaffolding, around which actors have to run to and fro.

In July 1941, Colonel Sermonti is tasked to lead an Italian regiment sent to the USSR to fight alongside the Germans on the Eastern Front. During the First World War, English ships sink a German cruiser, the "Dresden", off the coast of Chile. The crew manages to rescue itself and reach an isolated island, where they bury their dead and then end up being taken prisoner. After three years, the sailors manage to escape, inspired by the thought of continuing the fight for their Fatherland. But the fortunes of war have changed for Germany and when the sailors return to Germany, they are ridiculed and attacked by mutineering sailors. Disappointed, the sailor Carl Ohlesen returns to the lonely island and lives out his life as a Robinson Crusoe. Im Ersten Weltkrieg sinkt nach einem Angriff englischer Schiffe der deutsche Kreuzer "Dresden" vor Chile. Castle Grieshuus in Holstein, shortly before 1700: The old lord of the castle has chosen is elder son Hinrich to be his heir, while younger son Detlef has moved to the city to study law. One day, the daughter of the serf Owe Heiken, Barbara, called Babbie by everyone, is attacked by marauding soldiers. At the last moment, Hinrich is able to save her from their assault. The young man falls in love with the beautiful woman and wants to marry her. His father, however, strongly objects. He considers his future daughter-in-law to be below Hinrich's station and is more than ready to disinherit the boy, if he insists on marrying Barbara. Maria Teodorescu is an opera singer, who's in Chisinau with her eight year-old son when the Soviets march into Bessarabia in 1940. Her son is taken away from her and sent to Odessa, where he will be re-educated to become a "useful Bolshevik". To get her son back, she has to agree to sing in Soviet theaters and taverns. An Italian-Romanian co-produced film, many of the film's actors were arrested by the Communists upon the conquest of Romania by the Soviet Army in 1944. The film was banned and was thought destroyed, like most of its kind, until it was discovered in Italian archives more than fifty years later.

In the year 1946, the Soviet space program is undergoing turmoil: Professor Sedych is planning to lead the first crewed expedition to the Moon. It's 1941, and the British have captured Benghazi, (until then, an Italian-colonized city). Suffering under the boorish and, frankly, atrocity-laden, Allied occupation, the Italian inhabitants do their best to thwart their enemy's rule and ferret out Britain's military plans. However, one man, Captain Enrico Berti, seems to be collaborating with the occupiers. The reality is somewhat different though.
After years of oppression by Bavarian rule in Tyrol, innkeeper and reserve captain Andreas Hofer and the Capuchin priest Joachim Haspinger travel to Vienna as representatives of the Tyroleans to meet with Austrian Archduke Johann. All the inhabitants' rights in Tyrol had been suspended under Bavarian rule and the two men want to ask the Archduke whether he'll assist in changing the situation for the better. The Hapsburg promises to support Tyrol, which, in turn, is interpreted by the rather fanatical priest as a signal for an uprising against their enemy. Andreas Hofer is pursuaded by Haspinger to initiate the rebellion against Bavarian rule. Nach Jahren der Unterdr ckung durch die bayerische Herrschaft in Tirol fahren der Wirt und Hauptmann der Passeier Sch tzen Andreas Hofer sowie der Kapuzinerpater Joachim Haspinger als diplomatische Delegation der Tiroler nach Wien, um sich mit dem sterreichischen Erzherzog Johann zu treffen. Dies hat zur Folge, dass Haspinger nun mit aller Gewalt gegen den Feind vorgehen will. Er berzeugt auch Andreas Hofer von seinen Pl nen, und dieser initiiert schlie lich den Aufstand gegen die Bayern.

Steve Wiley, a gmabler from New York, obtains a counterfeit of the winning ticket and also claims the car is his. The theatre manager declares them both winners and leaves it to them to split the car any way they want. Steve wants to sell the car to pay off a gambling debt, but Malcolm wants to drive it to Hollywood to meet actress Anita Ekberg. Being the United States, is there a lawyer in the wings waiting to launch a lucrative lawsuit? Four-part docudrama about the events of late 1943 until May 1945, concentrating on the "liberation" of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Hungary by the Red Army and local "supporters" from the yoke of Nazi Germany. All the major communist players at the time are shown ad nauseum, including Brezhnev, who played a minor wartime role, but, it just so happens, was the leader of the Soviet Union at the time the film was made. It's the usual, heavyhanded approach: the Communists are everywhere; they are brave, clever, smart, cool AND hot. The future leaders of Soviet Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Yugoslavia are all depicted in a very flattering way: as smart and wise thinkers, extremely brave soldiers and admirable men. Of course, the Western Powers are portrayed in not-so-quite a flattering light. Thus, one should question everything they see. There's just enough truth mixed with the distortions to make one question who's telling the real history of the war in the East. This, in turn, compels Heinz Norman to find a look-alike for his show. The real Helga, however, has other plans for him. Seine pl tzlich wiedergewonnene Freiheit erm glicht es ihm auch, sich als heldenhafter Soldat im Krieg gegen sterreich zu beweisen. The composer Toni Hofer is working with the two librettists Nicki and Vicky Mahler on a new operetta, but he can t come up with a brilliant idea for the title waltz. Help is at hand in the shape of Hedi, Nicki and Vicky s foster sister. She charms Hofer and inspires him to come up with a melody, which he, however, forgets as soon as Hedi disappears. Since he is clueless, that she is related to the librettists, he searches for her in vain.

But the Revue's director, Ernst Eder, decides shortly thereafter to present the Revue on an ice skating rink belonging to Liesl's uncle. April, 1945. After "liberating" Warsaw, the First Polish Army moves to the banks of the Oder. Their task it to cross the river and destroy the enemy on its own territory. The main characters of this film are two soldiers: the first, Wojtek Narog, is a former partisan; the other, Zalewski, earlier took part in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The young countess Beate von D rnberg is travelling to Sch nburg to the court of Duke Karl Theodor to take up residence as a lady in waiting. During an interruption in the journey while the coach is being repaired, she gets to know two actors. The younger one is rather importunate, but the older one, Florian Reuther, tells her about the art of acting. The conversation is interrupted by the resumption of the journey, and the countess hopes to meet Reuther again. Duke Theodor, to whose court she is travelling, is known to take no interest in the government of his state, and to leave all state business to Minister von Creven, who oppresses and exploits the people. After Countess Beatrice arrives at court, she is assigned as lady in waiting to the Countess von R derau. At an evening party, she attracts the attention of the Duke, who makes her an offer of marriage. Beate thus becomes his wife. Florian Reuther's troupe of travelling players arrives in Sch nburg. During a discussion about the performance with Duke Karl Theodor, an attempt is made to press the young actor Peter Tamm into service in the army for the colonial wars of the Generalstaaten for which Minister von Creven has hired out Karl Theodor's army. Tamm attempts to escape, but in the process, falls onto the stage and is killed. The next day, the Minister orders Florian to perform a certain piece. Florian is obliged to decline, as his principal actor is dead, for which he blames the Minister. This angers Von Creven, who strikes him in the face. Soldiers then storm Castle Prokop, where he and his followers are residing, and take him and the inhabitants prisoner. Constantine s steward Stephan, who was playing with the Prince s children when the assault began, is taken prisoner, too. He represents the prince s children as his own. Because the prince refuses to die a soldier s death, young Lieutenant Kosta Vasilev decides to execute him and his companions. It turns out, that Prince Melnik had executed Kosta s brother several years earlier.
High quality color production about the life and times of Ernst Thalmann, the leader of the Communist Party in interwar Germany. The first part starts with Thalmann in the trenches on the Western Front in 1918. He and his comrades hear of the naval mutiny in Kiel and he deserts to assist them in their anti-War rebellion. With war's eventual end, Thalmann works tirelessly to not only combat the provacations of the Freikorps and their foreign interventionist allies, but does his utmost to prevent the workers from splitting into different political camps, thus weakening their ability to resist their fascist counterparts. The first part ends with a rebellion in Hamburg, which is allegedly caused by an American agent, who, nonetheless, does not appear in the film. The second part of the film starts with Thalmann's struggles against the forces of the Right in 1930 and ends with his execution by the Nazis in Buchenwald in 1944. The quality of the film is very good and the colors vibrant. Some of the obvious propaganda is sickening, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
