The film follows the adventures of two Lviv batiars, "Szczepek" and "Toniek," who are forced to care for their orphaned neighbor, 17-year-old Krysia. The situation is complicated by the arrival of the girl's grandmother, the cold and despotic Baroness Dorn, who desperately wants to adopt her granddaughter. Vienna in the early post-war years. Young Martina Nissen, sole heir to the Nissen Works, meets the attractive cosmopolitan Fr d ric Fleury on the side of the road and immediately takes him home, as she likes him and succumbs to his charm. She is so smitten by the young man with the elegant name that she asks him to marry her shortly afterwards. And just as surprisingly, Fr d ric is not averse to the idea. But "true love" is not Martina's driving force; rather, her father had stipulated in his will that in order not only to inherit but also to have a say in the company, she would have to marry and that her future husband would have to come from the same industry in order to one day manage the Nissen Works. Martina and Fr d ric do indeed exchange rings shortly afterwards to seal their marriage of convenience. For the young Nissen husband, this also means that he can now further develop his inventions at this company...
In the pre-tourist-overrun Canary Islands, there's an insane asylum for midgets. It's located on a barren landscape and the inmates aren't happy with the warden. As one of them says, "We really have to do something here so the old bastard can see it!" The result? A protest which leads to an uprising. They burn down his favorite palm tree; they vandalize a car; plates are smashed and flowerpots sent on fire. And in true Hrzog-style insanity, a large pig is brutally killed; there's a cockfight; and a monkey is subjected to a mock crucifixion. Fortunately(?), we are spared the actual execution of the animal abuse in this film version; but the suggestiveness is bad enough. And through it all, the viewer can watch his own primitve predjudices reflect back to him/her, as you laugh along with the antics of the "little people". But, of course, that's exactly what Herzog had in mind when he made the film. Disturbing, especially if you're sensitive.
Wearing torn Japanese shoes, English trousers, a red Russian cap, and a Hindustani heart, orphaned Ranbir Raj comes to Bombay to make his fortune. He pawns his gold medal; gambles with his money; loses everything; and, to top it off, is pick-pocketed. He ends up on the beach, meets Vidya Shastri, a teacher who runs a private school, and both fall in love. Ranbir gets a job in a laundry. When he goes to deliver some clothes to Maya, she notices that he has a way with cards and gets him to accompany her to a casino of sorts, where he wins Rs.20000/-, which, unfortunately, is pocketed by Maya.
BODY AND SOUL (1925): An evil and phony man, posing as a preacher, plots to take advantage of a woman from his sham congregation, who just happens to be in love with his long-estranged identical twin brother.
THE CAT AND THE CANARY (1927): Cyrus West is a rich man surrounded by vultures just waiting for him to kick the bucket, so they can inherit his possessions. However, the birds of prey will have to wait, for it is a condition of Cyrus' will that it not be published until the 20th anniversary of his death. On said day, the greedy heirs arrive at his spooky old mansion. The will is read and only Annabelle West will inherit everything, but only if she's deemed sane. Otherwise, the money and diamonds will go to someone else, whose name is in a sealed envelope. Thus begins a series of events, which will leave you questioning whether Annie is indeed unstable.
It is 1939 and in the Wolyn Voivodeship in eastern Poland, where a German minority has settled for hundreds of years, the Volksdeutsche find themselves more and more alienated from an increasingly scared Polish population, who react to Hitler's threats with an amplified and hysterical nationalism. Dr. Thomas, a physician, is not allowed by the Poles to have his own practice and his daughter Marie, who herself becomes more radicalized by Polish abuse, watches in horror as the local German school is vandalized and desecrated by the town's Poles. Incensed, Marie protests the destruction of the school to the town's mayor, who flippantly suggests she either learn to become a good Pole or to leave the country altogether with her Landsmanner. Dismayed that nothing will be done to protect her people, Marie goes with her father and a friend to the region capital, Luck, to protest to higher authorities, who decline to hear their complaints as well.
IT IS NOT THE HOMOSEXUAL WHO IS PERVERSE (1971): Usually titled as, "It is not the Homosexual who is perverse, but the SOCIETY in which He lives", the actual title --- which subtitutes "SITUATION" for "SOCIETY" --- reveals that this film is far from being as pro-gay as the incorrect translation makes it out to be. Thus, the film is not a condemnation of society which causes the homosexual to be an outcast, but an explanation of how the "norms" make gays behave as they do. This is not a film which will make most gay men happy. As the same time, it won't make conservatives happy either. It's hard to make out whether the filmmaker has sympathy for gay men or is disgusted, or is just reporting "that's how it is". It's both a sweeping condemnation of both society AND gay culture. Be prepared to be uncomfortable, no matter what your views.
UN CHANT D'AMOUR (1950): From their cells, two prisoners communicate through a hole in the wall separating them. With the silent complicity of the guard observing them through the peephole, they establish a loving and erotic connection using various objects such as a cigarette and a straw.
ANTOSHA RYBKIN (1942): Antosha Rybkin is a cook in an army unit. The Germans have occupied his village and his girlfriend decides to play the spy, crocheting a map and bringing it to the nearest Soviet army unit. The commander of the unit decides, based on this intelligence, to attack and re-take the village. In the meantime, a troupe of performers shows up and the commander allows them to perform, hoping the Germans will think the Soviets careless, unaware the village will soon be attacked. Antosha is chosen to replace an actor who ran away and, while doing so, plays a big part in the retaking of his home.
BATTLE OF THE FALCONS (1942): A film about children engaging in war games with one another, which, given the times this was filmed in, seems more like an attempt to push glorifying and serving the State than being just a simple child's comedy film. Any child playing at war anywhere in the world would love to have the equipment, numbers of participants, and the extensive tactics that are portrayed as "routine" in this film.
Dramatic biographical telling of Admiral Nakhimov, a talented Russian commander known for his progressive views on naval warfare. In 1853, as war with the Ottoman Empire seems to be inevitable, Nakhimov proposes the fleet strike on the Bosporus to protect Russia's Black Sea coast from a Turkish assault. His plans for a preemptive blow on the Turks is rejected by the empire's rulers. As Nakhimov had predicted, the Turks attack shortly thereafter. How Nakhimov deals with this seeming tragedy to Russian control of the Black Sea and the subsequent landings of an Anglo-French force in Crimea, will have a great impact on Russia's history.
The follow-up film to Kierunek Berlin (Richtung Berlin), the story begins in the second half of 1945, when units of the Polish Army, along with their Soviet "allies", began the final offensive of the war in Germany: the taking of Berlin (the last battles on the European front actually took place in Czechoslovakia). Wojtek Narog, our hero, will discover that the battle to take the city will be much more difficult and deadlier than he or any of his colleagues thought.

Tragic film set in the Casa Rosa DP concentration camp in Alerobello, Italy after the end of the Second World War. Based on true events, the film shows the fate of the many women of different nationalities who came to Italy from other parts of Europe, hoping to be accepted somewhere ... anywhere ... after losing their homes. Yvonne Dubois is a Frenchwoman who'll marry anyone to get out of the camp; Ana Petrovic is a young widow from Yugoslavia, locked up in the camp and expecting a child. Her husband was shot dead before her very eyes. Janka Nowotska is a Pole who was forced to work in a German brothel and has lost her mind; and Hilda von Schwartzendorf is a doctor from conquered Germany. What these women will go through is simply just a continuation of the horrors which did not end with Germany's capitulation.
Two greedy brothers want to buy some valuable land from a clueless kid; so they invite him to their village to soften him up. But then twin sisters show their faces in the village and the results are nothing other than confusion and ridiculous entanglements. A nice piece of advertising for the postwar Salzburg region.
A spectacular break-in into the villa of the film star Marion Milner! Luckily, none of her valuable jewelry has been robbed, but rather only an imitation. The police suspect the notorious master thief "Silver Jim", whom they've been tracking for a long time, but can't seem to catch, even though the "master thief" is too stupid to tell a gem from a piece of glass. The theft couldn't have happened at a better time for the film producer Otto Pitt, for he is making a criminal drama at the moment and is counting on the additional advertising generated by the heist.
