ANTOSHA RYBKIN (1942):

Antosha Rybkin is a cook in an army unit. The Germans have occupied his village and his girlfriend decides to play the spy, crocheting a map and bringing it to the nearest Soviet army unit. The commander of the unit decides, based on this intelligence, to attack and re-take the village. In the meantime, a troupe of performers shows up and the commander allows them to perform, hoping the Germans will think the Soviets careless, unaware the village will soon be attacked. Antosha is chosen to replace an actor who ran away and, while doing so, plays a big part in the retaking of his home.

BATTLE OF THE FALCONS (1942):

A film about children engaging in war games with one another, which, given the times this was filmed in, seems more like an attempt to push glorifying and serving the State than being just a simple child's comedy film. Any child playing at war anywhere in the world would love to have the equipment, numbers of participants, and the extensive tactics that are portrayed as "routine" in this film.

DVD-R is in Russian with switchable English subtitles.  Approx. 51 mins.  See film samples for quality.
