Engrossing and uncompromising documentary film about the fight against syphilis made back at a time when treatment for the disease was in its early stages.  Through the use of rather heavy-handed drama, this rather "subtle" Teutonic melodrama makes its point ... and then some!  Though unintended, the film vividly reveals how the extremely difficult socio-economic problems of the Weimar Era led to, among other things, serious medical repercussions.  Don't expect to be in the mood to party afterwards.
