Things look bleak for Russia when the invading Tartars cut off all telecommunications between the border cities and the capital. The czar sends the young captain Michael Strogoff to deliver a vital message to the last line of defense. Along the way he finds love with the practical Nadia, a woman trying to visit her exiled father in Siberia, and danger from the traitorous Ivan Ogereff, who wants to stop him at all costs.
