Allegorischer Antikriegsfilm von Victor Trivas: Fünf Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft finden sich im Ersten Weltkriegs in einem Unterstand im Niemandsland zwischen den Fronten wieder: Ein Berliner Tischler, ein Monteur aus Paris, ein englischer Offizier, ein jüdischer Schneider sowie ein schwarzer Tänzer, der als Einziger die Sprachen aller versteht. Während um sie herum der Krieg tobt, sind sich die fünf über die Absurdität des Krieges einig. Ihre Oase des Friedens verlassen sie erst wieder bei der Nachricht vom Waffenstillstand.

Allegorical anti-war film by Victor Trivas:  Five men from different backgrounds end up together in a dugout in No-Man’s land during the First World War.  One is a carpenter from Berlin; another a Parisian mechanic; an English officer; a Jewish tailor and a Negro dancer, who is the only one who understands all the languages everyone is speaking.  While the war rages around them, all five of them agree on the absurdity of war.  They leave their peaceful oasis only after news of the armistice reaches them.
