Siegmund Meyer ist ein erfolgreicher Heiratsvermittler, doch sein eigenes Eheglück läßt auf sich warten. Um die Gunst von Mary, der Tochter des Stadtrats Goebel, zu erlangen, gibt er sich ihrem Vater gegenüber als schwerreicher Industrieller aus. Marys Herz gehört jedoch einem anderen, während Meyer bei seinen waghalsigen Rollenwechseln gar nicht bemerkt, daß seine treue Sekretärin Fräulein Krause seit langem in ihn verliebt ist. 

Siegmund Meyer is a successful matchmaker, but his own happy marriage hasn’t taken place yet.  To gain the favor of Mary, the daughter of the city councilman Goebel, he represents himself to the father as a very rich industrialist.  However, Mary’s heart belongs to someone else, while Meyer is so busy playing the role he’s made for himself, that he doesn’t notice that his loyal secretary Ms. Krause has long been in love with him.
