Peter Kolle, a minor employee, and his wife Sabine have a happy marriage.  And like most happy marriages, there’s no money in the till.  So Peter secretly works nights with his friend on an invention.  When his wife finds out, she angrily leaves the apartment and drives to her brother Alphons in Berlin, to whom Peter promised at his wedding, that he’d give up inventing things and for that reason, left all his paperwork behind with Alphons. 

Peter Kolle, ein kleiner Angestellter, und seine Frau Sabine führen eine glückliche Ehe, nur fehlt es Peter am nötigen Geld. Deshalb arbeitet er nachts heimlich bei einem Freund an seiner Erfindung. Als seine Frau dahinter kommt, verlässt sie wütend die Wohnung und fährt nach Berlin zu ihrem Bruder Alphons, dem Peter bei der Hochzeit versprochen hatte, die Erfinderei aufzugeben, und dem er deswegen alle Papiere überlassen hat.
