There is a great cohesion among the students in Professor Fromann’s class at Humboldt High School in Dresden. But one day, this harmony is disturbed by an event: A ten-Mark note disappears, which Sibylle Brant stuck under the rim of her inkwell. Helene Seiff drops a book and, lo and behold: there’s the 10 Mark note! Although she insists, that she knows nothing about it, Fromann sends her home until the matter can be cleared up. But because Sibylle is afraid for her girlfriend, she asks the teacher to write Helene a reassuring letter.

In der Klasse von Prof. Fromann am Humboldt-Lyzeum in Dresden herrscht großer Zusammenhalt. Doch eines Tages wird diese Harmonie durch ein Ereignis gestört. Es verschwindet ein Zehnmarkschein, den Sibylle Brant unter den Rand ihres Tintenfasses gesteckt hat. Da lässt Helene Seiff ein Buch fallen, und der Geldschein fällt heraus. Obwohl sie beteuert, nichts davon gewusst zu haben, schickt Fromann sie bis zur Klärung der Sache nach Hause. Weil Sibylle aber Angst um die Freundin hat, bittet sie ihren Lehrer, ihr einen beruhigenden Brief zu schreiben.
