THE SHOW OFF (1934):

A man cons his girlfriend into thinking he's a bigwig in the railway business. And just like any good golddigger, when they finally get married, she spends a fortune setting up their love nest. Once the manure hits the fan and the bill collectors come-a-knocking, they go to live with the wife's parent until the man can change his ways (huh?) and work his fingers to the bone supporting his princess. And they say the new generation is entitled!
