Prince Eugen will shortly marry Princess Anna Luise, but his heart really belongs to Pepi, the owner of a small store. First Lieutenant Patera is named to be his adjutant, but after an unpleasant event, he is sent out into the provinces. After seven years, he returns to Vienna, where Prince Eugen will help him to obtain his dream of becoming the king's adjutant.

Prinz Eugen steht kurz vor der Hochzeit mit Prinzessin Anna Luise, doch sein Herz gehört Pepi, der Besitzerin eines kleinen Ladens. Zu seinem neuen Adjutanten wird Oberleutnant Patera ernannt, der aber nach einem unangenehmen Zwischenfall in die Provinz strafversetzt wird. Nach sieben Jahren kehrt er nach Wien zurück, und Prinz Eugen verhilft ihm, seinen Traum zu verwirklichen und Adjutant Seiner Majestät zu werden.
