Emanuel Pokorný, an old bachelor, is to start working as a professor at a rural church school. Before he leaves, however, he finds a baby abandoned in his room. Since he has no time to search for the child's parents, he secretly takes the child to a boarding house. And from that moment on, his troubles have no end.
