Young Amy returns from boarding school to her showbiz-family, who run a small stage in a tent at the fairgrounds.  When Anny suddenly has to step in for one of the artists one evening, she thrills not only the audience with her unusual piano playing, but the theatrical agent Hobbes, too.  He engages the entire family to perform at the Apollo Theatre in Berlin, where Anny ascends to the height of stardom and gets an offer to perform in the USA.  But when Ordini tries to exploit the young girl for his own career, Anny realizes what is happening and returns back to her family.

Die junge Anny kehrt aus dem Pensionat zu ihrer Schaustellerfamilie zurück, die auf dem Rummelplatz eine kleine Zeltbühne betreibt. Als Anny plötzlich eines Abends für einen Künstler einspringen muß, begeistert sie mit ihrem ungewöhnlichen Klavierspiel nicht nur das Publikum, sondern auch den Theateragenten Hobbes. Der engagiert die gesamte Familie an das Apollo-Theater in Berlin, wo Anny zum umjubelten Star aufsteigt und ein Angebot aus den USA erhält. Als jedoch der Kunstpfeifer Ordini das junge Mädchen für seine eigene Karriere ausnutzen will, besinnt sich Anny und kehrt zu ihrer Familie zurück.
