Década de 1950. En el pueblo de Villar del Río los habitantes están contentos: los americanos, como ellos llaman a los estadounidenses, van a visitarles con ocasión de la presentación del Plan Marshall en España. Ese plan, iniciado en Estados Unidos en 1947, consistió en ayudar a países europeos a recuperarse tras la II Guerra mundial y frenar la expansión soviética. A partir de entonces, el día a día de los pueblerinos, del alcalde o del cura, se centrará en preparar esa esperada visita. Una visita que nunca se producirá, ya que el Plan Marshall nunca se llevó a cabo en España. 

This story takes place in the 1950s in the town of Villar del Rio.  The residents there are happy.  The Americans are supposed to visit the town in conjunction with the distribution of Marshall Plan funds in Spain.  That plan, launched by the United States in 1947, was to help Europe recover from World War II and to stop Soviet expansion into Europe.  Once the news of the impending visit is announced, the daily life of the villagers, their mayor and their priest will be focused completely on preparing for the expected visit.  It is a visit, however, which will never happen:  the Marshall Plan was never applied to Spain.
