Cuba Cubana is the second film marking Zarah Leander's comeback after the Second World War.  It starts with Robby Townsend, a reporter, and his news photographer assistant, Billy, being given an assignment to go to San Puerto Antonio in South America to report on an uprising. Once they arrive, they attend a bullfight and Robby notices Arabella.  The governor, played by Paul Hartman, is also at the bullfight and notices the two of them start a conversation, when Robby gets his watch caught in Arabella's shawl.  Robby later discovers, she's the owner of a nightclub and pays her a visit there.  Having watched the obligatory musical scene of note in every Leander film, Robby decides it's time to do something less important ... like go report on the revolt. When he and his assistant show up at a demonstration, a clash between workers and the police break out and Robby accidentally kills someone trying to get away.  Suffering now from a head injury and fearing eventual arrest and torture at the hands of the secret police, he does what anyone would logically do in his place:  He goes back to Zarah's nightclub  -- no doubt hoping she'll flash her expired UfA pass at the cops and they'll all sit down to pina coladas and a showing of  Die grosse Liebe and have a good laugh over the whole misunderstanding.  Yeah, okay.
