Steffie, a newspaper reporter’s secretary, dresses up like a man and gets a commission from the couturier Hubert Kersten, who lives in constant fear of industrial espionage.  When he once more meets Steffie in a café, this time dressed like a woman, he falls in love with her, thinking she is the sister of his new employee (Steffie in drag as a man).  At work, Steffie gets to know the trainee Stascha, whom she snags photographing the designs for the latest fashions.  When she is confronted by Steffie, Stascha throws the camera out of the window, claims Steffie is the real spy and manages to make her the target of suspected espionage.
