LULLABY  (1937):

Documentary by Dziga Vertov made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. The film praises the women and mothers of the USSR and punctuates the whole with lullabies and folklore-like music, which had been composed specially for the film.

DRAMA ON THE VOLGA  (1913):

Natalia falls in love with a young man who works for her father. Slight problem, though: daddy's promised her hand to some other ogre. This, in turn leads to suffocation, improper disposal of corpses, and blackmail. Another uplifting Russian film!
