The story of Vaslav Nijinsky, who is widely believed to be one of the greatest ballet dancers of all time. The film puts forth the idea that both the dancer's consuming ambition to succeed and self-enforced heterosexuality drove him to madness. Eventually, schizophrenia leads to irreversible decline.
