Karl is the favorite waiter in a beach hotel on the Baltic.  But he doesn’t want to be stuck in this career forever.  He has great plans for the future.  And until he’s saved up enough money, he doesn’t want to marry his fiancée, Grete, the daughter of the hotel owner.  So, luckily for him, he’s hired for the winter season in the best wine bar in Berlin.

Karl ist der beliebte Kellner im Strandhotel eines Ostseebades. Aber diesen Beruf will er nicht für immer ausüben, er schmiedet große Pläne für die Zukunft. Bevor er nicht genug Kapital beisammen hat, möchte er auch seine Verlobte Grete, die Tochter des Hotelbesitzers, nicht heiraten. Da kommt es ihm sehr gelegen, dass er für die Wintersaison ein Engagement nach Berlin erhält, ins beste Weinlokal der Stadt.
