Heimatfilm von Luis Trenker: Der junge Jäger Thomas Sebald liebt Maria, die Tochter des Bürgermeisters eines kleinen Bergdorfes. Dieser ist jedoch der Chef einer Wildererbande und daher gegen die Verbindung seiner Tochter zu dem Jäger. Als Thomas Marias Vater in Notwehr erschießt, kommt er durch eine Intrige der Wilderer wegen Totschlags ins Gefängnis. Doch Maria ist bereit, sich für Thomas zu opfern und verspricht dessen Rivalen Kaspar die Ehe, wenn dieser die Intrige vor Gericht aufdeckt.

Heimatfilm by Luis Trenker:  The young hunter Thomas Sebald loves Maria, the daughter of the mayor of a small mountain village.  The mayor, however, leads a band of poachers and is thus against the marriage of his daughter to the hunter.  When Thomas ends up shooting Maria’s father in self-defense, he ends up in prison through an intrigue by the poachers.  Maria is ready, however, to sacrifice herself for Thomas and promises his rival Kaspar, that she’ll marry him, if he reveals this intrigue to the court.
