SO WAR DER DEUTSCHE LANDSER (THIS WAS THE GERMAN SOLDIER) (1955) * with switchable English subtitles *

This film documents the exploits and tragedies of the German Army at war.  Were they heroes or sacrificial lambs for the insane expansionist dreams of Germany's rulers?  Anti-war in nature, the continual self-pity and mea culpa by the "new" Germans ten years after war's end still manages to have a touch of condenscension for Gemrany's former enemies.  Nevertheless, this 81-minute DVD has wonderful battle footage from all the theatres of war the German soldier, sailor and airman took part in.  The quality of most of these battlefield films is very good.  Formerly sold under the title, This was the German Soldier.

DVD-R IS IN GERMAN WITH SWITCHABLE ENGLISH SUBTITLES.  APPROX. 81 MINS.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SWITCHABLE (SOFT) SUBTITLES WILL NOT SHOW UP WHEN VIEWING THE SAMPLE BELOW.  IF YOU SEE SUBTITLES, THEN THEY ARE HARD-ENCODED (meaning, they cannot be turned off when viewing the film):
