Die gefeierte Revuesängerin Marietta zieht sich aus Liebe von der Bühne zurück – auf ein Gut in der Puszta. Seines Stars beraubt, steuert das Theater der Pleite entgegen, das Ensemble muss mühsam durch die Provinz tingeln. Bald vermisst Marietta die Bühnenluft, den bisherigen Inhalt ihres Lebens. Sie kehrt auf die Bretter, die die Welt bedeuten, zurück. Ein schwerer Ehekrach ist die Folge.  

The acclaimed revue singer Marietta ends her love affair with the stage for the love of another … and moves to an estate in the Puszta.  Robbed of its star, the theater is on its way to bankruptcy.  To prevent it happening, the ensemble must turn into a traveling troupe through the provinces.  It isn’t long, however, before Marietta misses her life on the stage, which, up to now, had made up her entire life.  She returns to the life, which once meant everything to her.  The result?  A serious crack in her marriage.
