Heinz van Zeelen, a famous singer on the international stage, is always getting involved in new love affairs.  In Milan, too, he flirts with an American woman in the audience, although his wife Helene is sitting in her box and can see everything.  She asks her husband to fly with her the next day back to Munich, which he agrees to, but only because he then wants to return from the airport right back to Milan.  When the plane has to make an emergency landing due to fog, he sets off alone on the road back to Milan.  First, he makes it to a village inn and falls in love once again:  this time, with the daughter of the innkeeper, whose dearest wish is to become an actress.  In the famous singer, she recognizes her big chance.  In the meantime, van Zeelen's wife has started divorce proceedings and he returns home immediately.  That evening in the theatre, he appears nervous and his voice sounds bad.

Heinz van Zeelen, ein berühmter Sänger auf internationalen Bühnen, verstrickt sich immer wieder in neue Liebesabenteuer. Auch in Mailand flirtet er mit einer Amerikanerin im Zuschauerraum, obwohl seine Frau Helene in ihrer Loge sitzt und alles mit ansehen muss. Sie bittet ihn Mann, mit ihr am nächsten Tag nach München zu fliegen, er willigt ein, aber nur, weil er direkt nach Mailand zurückfliegen will.   Als das Flugzeug wegen Nebels notlanden muss, macht er sich alleine auf den Weg zurück nach Mailand. Zunächst gelangt er in ein Dorfgasthaus und verliebt sich schon wieder: diesmal in die Tochter des Wirts, deren sehnlichster Wunsch es ist, Schauspielerin zu werden. In dem berühmten Sänger erkennt sie ihre große Chance. Inzwischen hat van Zeelens Frau die Scheidung eingereicht, er fährt sofort nach Hause. Abends im Theater ist er nervös, seine Stimme schlecht.
