At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in France, the Paris Commune was established in 1871 against the rich and the powerful and violently repressed by the army that remained faithful to Republicanism. This is the love story between a young sales girl and a soldier unable to decide whether he’s for or against the revolutionaries.  It took only two short months for events to make his decision moot. In the end, a New Babylon shop will open with frilly things for the bourgeois girls … and the washerwomen will still be there to wash them.
