Marianne is really a bookkeeper, but is so pretty, that she’s given a job in the theatre.  There, the gaffer Max falls for her and convinces her to stay at the theatre.  Max is really a prizefighter, but seems to spend more time making films than fighting in the ring  (oh, he will eventually take another job as a parachutist in the Luftwaffe; but that’s something for another story).  Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a Max Schmeling film if Max couldn’t beat in someone’s head and there’s no problem arranging that here:  A career boxer (of course) just happens to be around and is harassing Marianne.  Naturally, the clueless Max, who is unaware he’s a prize fighter in real life, defends her honor and throws a punch.  He’s fired for it, but gets an offer from the manager Schmidtchen.  When Max finds out that Marianne is engaged to another, he decides to go to Hamburg and take up Schmidtchen’s offer to become a boxer.  And that is NOT the story behind Max Schmeling!

THERE IS A NEWSREEL ALONG WITH THE FILM, JUST AS GERMAN AUDIENCES MIGHT HAVE SEEN WHEN THE MOVIE WAS FIRST SHOWN (except this newsreel may not be contemporary to when the film was released).

Max Schmeling actually does a pretty good job as an actor and it is easy to see why he fell in love with the super cute and extremely energetic Annie Ondra.
