Screen adaptation of the operetta of the same name by Lehar, as well as simultaneously showing the touching love story between Johann Wolfgang Goethe and the minister’s daughter Friederike Brion in the 18th Century, which had an unhappy ending, because the Duke of Weimar insisted on his court employees remaining unmarried.
