The year is 1800.  Leopold von Rockl and Ferdinand von Wangenheim, two lieutenants of the Guard with lively dispositions, from whom no lady is safe, leave the residence of the prince for a time ... and for good reason:  Leopold has begun an affair with Princess Gabrielle, the daughter of the prince, and he’s hoping that all the excitement about it will abate in his absence; Ferdinand is taking a trip to commercial adviser Krallinger, who hopefully is going to teach him some manners.  Unfortunately, it ain’t that simple:  Gabrielle follows Leopold while incognito and the three meet again at a ball.  What will Gabrielle do, when she finds out that Leopold is hot for Christine, Krallinger’s sister-in-law?

Man schreibt das Jahr 1800. Leopold von Röckl und Ferdinand von Wangenheim, zwei überaus lebenslustige Gardeleutnants, vor denen kein Rock sicher ist, verlassen für einige Zeit die Residenz des Landesfürsten - und das aus gutem Grund: Leopold hat eine Affäre mit Prinzessin Gabriele, der Tochter des Landesfürsten, angefangen, und die Aufregung darüber soll sich in seiner Abwesenheit etwas legen; Ferdinand reist indes zu Kommerzienrat Krallinger, der ihm seinerseits ein wenig Anstand beibringen soll.   Aber Gabriele reist Leopold inkognito nach, und so treffen sich die drei auf einem Ball wieder. Leider muss die Prinzessin erkennen, dass ihr geliebter Leopold in der kurzen Zeit ein Techtelmechtel mit Christine, der Schwägerin Krallingers begonnen hat.
