While shooting off the Dalmatian coast, an actor playing the part of a prince falls into the water and ruins his costume. Since the real Prince Mirano just happens to be there and is wearing a similar uniform, he is asked to take over the role. The leading actress, Maria Foreni, doesn't know that her new partner is a real prince and promises to help the new performer with his career. When the film crew starts shooting in a small village in the interior of the country, they come upon the idea to present the man as a real prince, unaware that's what he really is, which leads to all kind of turmoil.

Bei Dreharbeiten vor der dalmatinischen Küste fällt der Darsteller eines Prinzen ins Wasser und ruiniert sein Kostüm. Da der echte Prinz Mirano gerade anwesend ist und eine ähnliche Uniform trägt, bittet man ihn, die Rolle zu übernehmen. Die Hauptdarstellerin Maria Foreni weiß nicht, dass ihr neuer Partner ein echter Prinz ist und verspricht, dem vielversprechenden neuen Darsteller bei der Karriere zu helfen. Als das Filmteam bei Dreharbeiten in einem kleinen Ort im Innern des Landes festsitzt, kommen sie auf die Idee, den vermeintlichen Schauspieler, der die Prinzenrolle so gut gespielt hat, als echten Prinzen auszugeben, was zu allerlei Turbulenzen führt.
