ZIRKUS RENZ (1943)

René Deltgen, Paul Klinger and Angelika Hauff
$9.99

This movie is based loosely on the biography of the circus pioneer, Erns Jakob Renz. The two circus performers Harms and Renz care for the young orphan Bettina, after her grandfather is killed while practicing an act with a bear (hey! Yogi wants the pic-i-nick basket; you give it to him!). The three take off to Berlin to open their own circus. After a number of difficulties --- none of them with bears, luckily --- they build a reputation among their Berliner fans.  Soon, Bettina gets older and the two men's thoughts towards her grow from surrogate fathers to something that would have landed them in jail had the internet been around back then and they posted their desires and photos of her online.  There are a number of close calls both in their personal lives and with their French rivals; but soon, everyone pulls together for the good of the circus and to avoid ending up on the sex offender registry.
