At the request of the Duke plagued by money troubles, his nephew, Crown Prince Rudolf, is to be married off in style. But Rudi ain't interested in his uncle's plans and works in a car factory using his common name. Then, a ceratin Count Rasumirski shows up at the Duke's place and tells him, that the famous operetta diva Vera Naldi is really a Russian princess, who knows nothing about her heritage. They come up with a plan to marry Rudolf off to the singer-slash-princess. But while attending the theatre, Rudi doesn't fall in love with the princess, but rather a secretary there!

Auf Wunsch des von Geldsorgen geplagten Herzogs soll sein Neffe, Erbprinz Rudolf, standesgemäß heiraten. Doch der interessiert sich überhaupt nicht für die Pläne seines Onkels und arbeitet unter seinem bürgerlichen Namen als Ingenieur in einer Autofabrik. Da taucht ein gewisser Graf Rasumirski beim Herzog auf und erklärt ihm, die bekannte Operettendiva Vera Naldi sei in Wirklichkeit eine russische Prinzessin, die nichts von ihrer Herkunft wisse. Sie fassen den Plan, Rudolf mit ihr zu verkuppeln. Doch im Theater verliebt Rudolf sich nicht in die Sängerin, sondern in die Sekretärin.
