Nun ist ihm schlagartig alles wieder eingefallen: Er stammt aus Berlin, war verheiratet mit einer hübschen Frau und besaß eine florierende Autofirma. Doch als er jetzt, nach 16 Jahren Abwesenheit, in seine Fabrik zurückkehrt, erkennt ihn niemand mehr, und niemand glaubt ihm die Geschichte vom Gedächtnisschwund – Heinrich Martin wurde bereits Jahre zuvor offiziell für tot erklärt.

After being seriously wounded in the First World War, Heinrich Martin’s memory was wiped out for years: he neither knew his name nor what kind of life he led. Now, suddenly, everything has come back to him: He’s from Berlin; he was married to a pretty woman and owned a flourishing auto company. But when he tried to return to his factory after being absent for some 16 years, no one recognized him anymore; and no one believes his story about losing his memory --- years earlier, Heinrich Martin was officially declared deceased.
