Shortly before a new steam fire enging is to be dedicated in the Bavarian village of Moosdenning, the farmers Bacherer and Brumbirl take out fire insurance. And when Bacherer’s farm suddenly bursts into flames, a turbulent search begins for the alleged arsonist.

Kurz bevor im bayerischen Dorf Moosdenning die neue Dampffeuerspritze feierlich eingeweiht werden soll, schließen die Bauern Bacherer und Brumbirl eine Feuerversicherung ab. Als in Bacherers Hof tatsächlich ein Feuer ausbricht, beginnt eine turbulente Suche nach dem vermeintlichen Brandstifter.
