Dass es ruhig zuginge in dem Berliner Mietshaus, in dem sich die Geschichte des Films zuträgt, kann man nicht gerade behaupten. Ständig kracht es zwischen den einzelnen Bewohnern - und manchmal ist das sogar wörtlich zu verstehen: zum Beispiel als die Witwe Bock ein paar Sprengkörper zwischen den Bricketts versteckte, die explodierten, als der diebische Portier des Hauses sie in seinem Ofen anzündete.  

That things go smoothly in the Berlin apartment house, where this film takes place, is something that really can’t be asserted.  There is constant bickering between the renters --- and quite often, it’s understandable:  for example, that old troublemaker the widow Bock, who we got to know in Krach im Hinterhaus, has put some gunpowder in some coal briquettes, which explode as the thieving portier of the house lights them in his oven.
