Ingrid, ein junges und unerfahrenes Mädchen, wird zur "Miss Mannequin" gewählt. Der Fotoreporter Walter freut sich, weil er ihr Freund ist, der Journalist Robert, weil er eine gute Story wittert.  Am nächsten Tag lässt Robert sich ihre Lebensgeschichte erzählen, und während sie redet, verliebt sie sich in ihn. Da ihre Geschichte aber so gar nichts für eine interessante Story hergibt, will er wenigstens ihr reizendes Lächeln vermarkten. Und er hat Erfolg, sie macht Karriere als Fotomodell. Nur ihre Liebe spürt er nicht, und als sie ein Kind erwartet, soll der "Zwischenfall" so schnell wie möglich aus der Welt.

Ingrid, a young and inexperienced girl, is voted “Miss Model”.  The photojournalist Walter is happy to hear the news, because he’s her friend; the journalist Robert is glad, because he senses a good story out of it.  The next day, Robert asks her to tell her life story; and while telling it, she falls in love with him.  But since her story isn’t exactly the most interesting in the world, Robert wants to make a buck off her pretty smile.  And he succeeds:  she ends up making a career as a model.  Robert, however, has no clue she’s in love with him; and when she ends up pregnant, his idea is to remove the “problem” as quickly as possible.
