The outbreak and result of war has always been determined by a combination of modern armaments technique and military strategy. Starting in the 20th Century, mobility in the conduct of warfare became ever more important; and it was the invention of the tank which led to a vast improvement in this mobility like no other weapon before it. Germany's Blitzkrieg in the Second World War was only possible because of the combined forces of a modern tank weapon and a superior air power. This film strives to show how the development and improvements of the Panzer from the period 1914 - 1945 almost made a German victory inevitable. Interviews with highly-decorated tankmen help to enlighten the conduct and technical abilities of German tanks at war.

Die Entwicklung und der Ausgang von Kriegen ist immer ein Resultat moderner Waffentechniken und geschickter militärischer Strategie. Mit Beginn dieses Jahrhunderts wurde Mobilität in der Kriegsführung immer wichtiger. Die Erfindung des Kampfpanzers hat wie keine andere militärtechnische Entwicklung ein hohes Maß an Mobilität möglich gemacht. Die Blitzkriege waren nur durch den kombinierten Einsatz moderner Kampfpanzer und einer überlegenen Luftwaffe möglich. Anhand zahlreicher Augenzeugenberichten hochdekorierter deutscher Panzerfahrer wird die Geschichte der deutschen Panzerwaffe vom Ersten Weltkrieg bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges umfassend dargestellt.
