John H. Claudius, Alleinerbe der Claudius-Stahlhütte, kehrt nach einem langen Aufenthalt in den Vereinigten Staaten ins Ruhrgebiet zurück. John erhielt zwar die Nachricht, dass sein Vater durch einen Bombenangriff ums Leben gekommen sei, aber er schenkt dieser Geschichte keinen Glauben. Vielmehr vermutet er, dass Claudius senior ermordet wurde. Der neue Mann seiner Mutter, sein Onkel Paul, macht auch keinen Hehl daraus, dass ihm Johns Besuch unangenehm ist. Selbst der Empfang durch die Mutter erscheint John nicht gerade herzlich. Als John die Freunde Mike R. Krantz und Stanley Goulden besuchen, die mit ihrer Ballettgruppe im Industriegebiet gastieren, entwickelt er einen Plan, den Mörder seines Vaters zu überführen. Nach William Shakespeares "Hamlet".

John H. Claudius, the sole heir to the Claudius Steel Works, returns to the Ruhr after a long stay in the United States.  Although John received the news, that his father was killed in an air raid, he doesn’t give much credence to the story.  He suspects much more, that Claudius senior was murdered.  His mother’s new husband, his Uncle Paul, makes no secret of his distaste for John’s visit.  Even his mother’s reception doesn’t seem particularly welcoming.  When John visits his friends Mike R Krantz and Stanley Goulden, who are visiting the industrial region with a ballet troupe, he develops a plan to catch his father’s murderer.  A story based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
