2 DVD SET: THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR (1936 - 1939)

In 1931, while most of Europe was turning to dictatorship and military governments to solve the economic crises in their lands, a Republican government emerged in Spain, overthrowing the long, strangling hold of the monarchy and the Catholic Church. What followed was a strong, liberal backlash against the Church and the military which eventually led to a coup of officers and a three year civil war to reverse the coup. Into this civil war were thrown not only the people of Spain, but foreigners, who fought in Spain either to further their perceived ideals or to use the country as a proving ground for the upcoming world war.

This 2 DVD set explores the reasons behind the civil war in Spain and chronicles its events. For anyone with an interest in the topic, these DVDs give a very clear and entertaining look into an event little talked about outside of a now, once more, democratic Spain.

DVD-Rs are in English with no subtitles.  Approx. 314 minutes long  (over 5 hours).  Very good quality.
