Violanta is only tolerated by her stepparents, because they use her as a maid.  She gives herself to Marianus, who disappears after they spend the night together.  She ends up pregnant and leaves the family farm.  While searching for Marianus, she gets to know his brother and ends up marrying him to secure a future for her child.  Andreas, her new husband, believes it’s his child.  One day, Marianus returns and finds out that he’s the father.  He then blackmails Violanta with this newfound piece of information.

Eines Tages kehrt Marianus zurück, findet heraus, dass er selbst der Vater ist und erpresst damit Violanta.
