Nazi Germany: Alex Schottland is a general in the Wehrmacht.  However, in reality, the general's a British agent who was planted in Germany towards the end of the First World War.  Being a spy in Hitler's Germany is far from fun and he wants out, but his friend and fellow British agent, Cornaz, convinces him to continue in his work.  Schottland passes on information that Germany's about to invade the USSR.  Captain Reinisch, Schottland's suspicious aide, discovers that his superior's real name is "Scotland" and that he changed it to hide his British ancestry.  Meanwhile, Cornaz is arrested shortly after their courier to the English has been intercepted and taken into custody.  Since Schottland has been a customer of Cornaz', he is summoned to headquarters for questioning.  There, he's forced to watch as the Gestapo tortures his colleague to death via a fire hose.  Schottland is soon arrested, but is released thanks to the intervention of none other than Ernst Kaltenbrunner.
