Curt Goetz’ humorous version of Schiller’s youth, filmed on location in Stuttgart:  The young, military doctor secretly write his drama “The Robbers” and attends the successful premiere of the play in Mannheim in 1782 without obtaining leave.  Finally, Schiller flees with his friend, the musician Andreas Streicher, from the garrison.
