Berlin around 1900. Henriette Lange lives only for the theatre. Her grandfather, however, has no patience with this. He's a theatre prompter and knows all the hype. Her friend, the chorus girl Liesbeth, is heartbroken because the revue star Vera Schreyvogel is hitting up on her boyfriend, Hans Reuter. Liesbeth soon consoles herself in the arms of another and Mme. Schreyvogel is quickly forgotten. Same for Hans Reuter, for he's in love with Henriette.

Berlin um 1900. Henriette Lange lebt nur für das Theater. Ihr Großvater allerdings hat dafür kein Verständnis. Er ist Souffleur und kennt den Theaterrummel. Ihre Freundin, die Chordame Liesbeth, hat Liebeskummer, denn der Revuestar Vera Schreyvogel hat auf ihren Freund Hans Reuter ein Auge geworfen. Doch Liesbeth tröstet sich schon bald mit einem anderen, und Frau Schreyvogel ist schnell vergessen. Auch für Hans Reuter, denn der liebt jetzt Henriette.
