Desperate, Violetta seeks advice from the respected physician, Dr. Hiob Pratorius. She just split up with her boyfriend, only to discover she might be carrying his child. Pratorius confirms her suspicion, but implores the young woman to keep her child. Shortly after leaving the clinic, Violetta has an accident, which looks suspiciously like the result of a suicide attempt. Pratorius looks after the girl personally and gives her new courage to live ... as well as his love. But the doctor's newfound happiness only awakens feelings of envy in his colleague, Dr. Speiter.

Verzweifelt sucht die hübsche Violetta Rat beim angesehenen Arzt Dr. med. Hiob Prätorius. Gerade hat sie sich von ihrem Freund getrennt, fürchtet aber, von ihm schwanger zu sein. Prätorius bestätigt ihren Verdacht, beschwört die junge Frau jedoch, das Kind zu behalten. Kurz nach Verlassen der Klinik hat Violetta einen Unfall, der verdächtig nach einem Selbstmordversuch aussieht. Prätorius kümmert sich persönlich um die Patientin und schenkt ihr nicht nur neuen Lebensmut, sondern auch seine Liebe. Doch das Glück des Arztes erregt den Neid seines Kollegen Dr. Speiter.
